Her aunt, Ann Lawson (b. 1811), is listed as ‘Housekeeper’. Sarah is listed as ‘Dressmaker’. Her cousin, Mary Jane Lawson (b. 1842), is listed as ‘Servant’. 

In 1871 – 

She is at Old Kington, Herefordshire. Sarah is listed as ‘National Schoolmistress’. 

In 1881 – 

She is at Schoolhouse, Bitterley, Ludlow. Her husband is listed as ‘Schoolmaster’. Sarah is listed as ‘Schoolmistress’. Her children (Alfred and Bertram) and her mother-in-law, Mary Wigmore (b. 1810), are unlisted. There is a boarder, Mary Jane Powell (b. 1862), listed as ‘School Assistant’.     

In 1891 – 

She is at Schoolhouse, Street End, Lower Hardres. Her husband is listed as ‘Schoolmaster’. Sarah is listed as ‘Schoolmistress’. Her son, Bertram, is unlisted.

In 1901 –         

She is at School House, Moreton. Her husband is listed as ‘National Schoolmaster’. Sarah is unlisted. There are two boarders, Mabel Annie Best (b. 1878) and Florence Emily Meek (b. 1879), listed as ‘Assistant Teacher’.
