Blanche, her mother and siblings (Fanny, Weston, William and Ella) are unlisted. There is an unlisted visitor, Elizabeth Faulkner (b. 1808). There are many servants (or workers?); 12 Stablemen, 1 Nurse, 1 Cook, 1 Housemaid, 2 Nursemaids and 1 Errand Boy. 

In 1881 – 

She is at Golden Lion, High Street, Newmarket. Her stepfather is listed as ‘Innkeeper’. Blanche, her mother and siblings (Weston, William, Ella and Henrietta) are unlisted. There are five servants: a Barmaid, Parlour Maid, Nursemaid, Cook and Chambermaid. 

In 1901 – 

She is at Kentford House, Bury Road, Kentford. Her husband is listed as ‘Trainer of Racehorses’. Blanche, her children (Violet and Douglas), and her (or a servants?) niece, Amanda Jennings (b. 1888), are unlisted. There are 8 servants/employees; 1 Governess, 1 Cook, 2 Housemaids and 5 Stable Boys. 

In 1911 – 

She is at Kentford, Newmarket. Her husband is listed as ‘Trainer’. Blanche is unlisted. There is a boarder, Rosa Burgoigne (b. 1886), listed as ‘Companion’. There are two servants, Josephine Ford (b. 1887) and Dororthy Gardiner (b. 1889). 

In 1921 – 

She is at Kentford, Newmarket. Her husband is listed as ‘Trainer of Horses’. Blanche and her daughter, Violet, are unlisted. Her son, Samuel, is listed as ‘Assistant Trainer of Horses’. There is a companion, Mary Wilson (b. 1893). There are four servants, Elsie May Talbot (b. 1894), Herbert Goody (b. 1896), Rosetta Peacky (b. 1882) and Edith Ellen Fellingham (b. 1896). 

In 1939 – 

She is at Kentford House, Brandon. Her son, Samuel, is listed as ‘Race Horse Trainer Retired’. Her daughter, Violet, is listed as ‘Incapacitated’. There is a Nurse/Companion, Doris Clough (b. 1910). There is a cook, Margaret Flanagan. 

d.         1 February 1947, Newmarket  

PICKERING, Blanche Leonie of Clifton Lodge, Kentford, Suffolk, widow died 1 February 1947. Probate Ipswich 10 September to Barclays Bank Limited and Samuel Douglas Pickering of no occupation. Effects £27,995, 11s, 11d.
