Her brother, James, is listed as ‘Apprentice Whitesmith’. Rebecca, her mother and siblings (Frances, William and Annie) are unlisted. Her grandmother, Mary Batte (b. 1769), is unlisted. 

In 1861 – 

She is at Cottingham, Yorkshire. Her mother is listed as widow and ‘Schoolmistress’. Her sister, Mary Jane, is listed as ‘Schoolmistress’. Rebecca is listed as ‘Pupil Teacher’. Her siblings, Margaret and William, are unlisted.

In 1871 –

She is at St George Plain Lodging Apartment of Training Institution. Mary Anne Alexander (b. 1841) and Rebecca are listed as ‘Governess’. There is a servant, Mary Ann Lacker (b. 1857). 

In 1881 – 

She is at Miss Cookson’s School House, Lincoln. Rebecca is listed as ‘Certificate Teacher’. Her mother is listed as widow and ‘Owner of Houses’. 

In 10/95 – 

Listed as ‘died 1885’. 

Her essay 'Unsuccessful' is published along with some comments about her character from Canon Nelson.
